So we had to take our car into the mechanic about a week ago because it is making a loud noise. We knew something was up so we asked for the to look over the car and let us know what all is wrong with prices. Apparently a mistake-$3000! What??!! Shocks/struts, hubs, oil gasket, water pump, belt.....and the list goes on. $3000 is definitely higher than the value of the car. UGH! After we had it home for a couple of days then the check engine light came on, Nate found a hole in the radiator and the awful sound became worse. We have been looking into repairs which we think we could repair these things for $1000 but is it worth it?? We called one of Nate's cousins who works as a manager of the repair dept at a dealership. His advice was that the car probably isn't worth the $1000 because of its age. So now we are looking to find a replacement SUV quickly! He told us that prolonged use of the car in its condition could lead to the tire literally coming off! Not good. So we are praying that just the right vehicle will come up for sale and we will be able to afford it. We are going to have to sell both my car and Nate's truck in order to get enough money to be able to get a 80-100K mile car. We just need something that is reliable and will be able to transport our growing family. We have always been a 2 car family...not sure how we are going to manage with one car, but we will-we have no choice at this point.
On the positive side it sure is exciting to get a new car!! Now we just have to find the PERFECT one.
